For your safety and clarity, Homemakers and Companions do not provide medical or personal care services. They are not permitted to:

• Administer medication (injections, IVs, or pill organizers). They can only provide verbal reminders.

• Provide hands-on personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, or toileting. They may lay out clothes or prepare a bath but cannot assist physically.

• Perform skilled nursing tasks like wound care, changing sterile dressings, or managing catheters/colostomy bags.

• Monitor vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, blood sugar, etc.).

• Give medical advice or diagnoses.

• Conduct physical, occupational, or speech therapy.

• Assist with feeding if special help is needed (they can prepare meals but cannot feed clients who have difficulty swallowing).

• Lift or transfer individuals (they can offer stabilization support while walking).

• Manage client finances or legal matters beyond basic scheduling or administrative tasks.

• Accept large gifts or loans from clients.

• Violate client privacy or professional boundaries.
